Today we are going to make homemade chicken Biriyani 

Biryani is a popular South Asian dish made with aromatic spices, basmati rice, and meat or vegetables. Here is a recipe for making chicken biryani:




Ingredients:


• 2 cups basmati rice

• 1 lb chicken, cut into small pieces

• 2 onions, sliced

• 4-5 cloves garlic, minced

• 1-inch piece ginger, grated

• 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped

• 2 tbsp biryani masala

• 1 tsp red chili powder

• 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

• 1/4 tsp saffron strands, soaked in 1/4 cup milk

• 1/2 cup plain yogurt

• 1/4 cup mint leaves, chopped

• 1/4 cup cilantro leaves, chopped

• 2 tbsp ghee or oil

• Salt to taste


Instructions:


1. Wash the rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in enough water for 30 minutes.


2. Heat ghee or oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are golden brown. Remove half of the onions and set them aside for later.


3. Add garlic, ginger, and green chilies to the remaining onions in the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes.


4. Add the chicken pieces to the pot and cook until they are no longer pink.


5. Add the biryani masala, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt to the pot and stir well.


6. Add the yogurt, mint leaves, and cilantro leaves to the pot and mix everything well.


7. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot. Mix well so that the rice is coated with the chicken and spices.


8. Add enough water to the pot so that the water level is 1 inch above the rice. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.


9. Cook the biryani for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked through and the water has been absorbed.


10. Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then, remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.


11. Garnish the biryani with the remaining fried onions and soaked saffron milk. Serve hot with raita and/or salad.
